Alchemy: What is Alchemy?
Merriam Webster defines Alchemy as "the medieval chemical science and speculative philosophy whose aims were the transmutation of the base metals into gold, the discovery of a universal cure for diseases, and the discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life" The science and philosophy of Alchemy has been around for centuries dating back to the Greeks and the time of Aristotle. Alchemy is said to be an investigation of nature itself, and although it may hold a different weight in today’s society than when the Greeks studied it, it still represents transformation. Transformation and change are the very essence of who and what we are. We are all in a constant state of change and the sciences, ancient and modern clearly explain this to us. |
Today’s application of Alchemy is better known as the philosophy of Spiritual Alchemy. Spiritual Alchemy is very common and is practiced by just about everyone and is a process of spiritual purification. This purification primarily happens through education and self-contemplation in a variety of mediums such as philosophy, religion, meditation, energy modalities and the metaphysical sciences.
